"We looked at our times from last year and I think we can do better this year and try to keep with the best from AAA," said Dover senior Andy Woods, seen above.
Woods is talking about the Friday and Saturday's District 3 swimming championships with the Eagles being bumped up to Class AAA this year.
"We can't look back, we have to look forward," fellow senior Stephen Cashman said. "We just have to put it all out on the line. It is time that matters, so hopefully we will get there."
The there is the PIAA meet which takes place in two weeks at Bucknell University, a place that Dover senior Eric Naylor not only knows well, but has brought back plenty of hardware from.
When it comes to accolades, Naylor could be one of the hardest-luck cases. Despite being one of the state's best swimmers, he (and his teammates) have been constantly overshadowed by three-time champ York Suburban and all-everything senior Kevin Marsteller, who has a drawer full of state gold, with more to come.
But in true fashion, Naylor never complains. In fact, he understands it.
"They have been state champions the last three years, it is hard for us to compete with that," he said. "We have been good, we haven't been at that level. They deserve all the attention."
