No state titles, but still an incredible season overall for the YAIAA.
Any other year, York Suburban would probably be the top-ranked boys team in the area, what with the Trojans winning the District 3 Class AAA championship and reaching the state semifinalists. All of that just happened to occur in a season where William Penn went 32-2 and reached the championship game in the state's highest classification.
There is a change from last time on the girls side. Rationale and full rankings after the jump.
Eastern and West York are still the top two teams, even though York Catholic reached the PIAA Class AA championship game. Both teams went undefeated against the Irish this season and both were knocked out of the Class AAA tournament by eventual state champion Archbishop Carroll.
Red Lion moves up to No. 4 and Delone Catholic drops to No. 5. The Squires lost big in the state semifinals to York Catholic, and comparing their full body of work against a Red LIon team that reached the second round of the state tournament in Class AAAA, the Lions get the slight edge. It's too bad the two teams never played each other this season.
The rest of the girls rankings and all of the boys rankings stayed the same as last week. Jump in with your thoughts in the comments section.
