Locals strong for Alvernia

Three YAIAA graduates have made their presence known on the diamond at Alvernia University this spring.

Red Lion's Tyler Runkle has started in 26 games for the Crusaders and is hitting .317 (32-for-101) with two home runs and 21 runs batted in. The sophomore has also swiped five bases in five attempts.

Junior Chris Simoncini, a Bermudian Springs grad, has 20 hits in 60 at bats, good for a .333 average in 23 games - 17 starts. He is also tied for the team lead with three round trippers.

Zach Grey, a York Catholic alum, has appeared in seven game, five starts on the pitcher's mound for Alvernia (20-15). Although the sophomore has not recorded a decision, his ERA is a terrific 3.75 and he has 19 strikeouts in 24 innings.

All three were YAIAA all-starts during their high school careers.
