Mid-April Power Rankings

One week into this thing and there's already chaos.

Four teams that were undefeated at this time last week, including No. 1 Susuquehannock softball, have suffered at least one loss. The Warriors have actually dropped two games in the last few days, which means they are no longer the top-ranked team.

That picture above of Mikesh Desai might give you an idea which team moved into the top spot. The Central York boys' tennis team is one of five teams from the school in the top 10 this week.

Full rankings and analysis after the jump. Utilize the comments section to add your own thoughts.

1. Central York boys' tennis (10-0): The have so much talent and so much depth that they will be tough to stop for any opponent, particularly those they will face in league play. Last year the Panthers qualified for the state tournament by winning the district title. Don't be surprised if they repeat the feat.

2. Central York softball (9-1): The Panthers bring so much back from last year's team that reached the PIAA Class AAAA semifinals, including pitcher Lauren Walker. She's only a sophomore, but she threw a no-hitter against two-time defending Class AAA state champion Susquehannock on Friday to help the Panthers win their sixth game in a row.

3. Red Lion boys' lacrosse (10-0): The Lions knocked off a program that had one more than 50 consecutive state games and are looking more and more like a team that can hang with some of the more established District 3 programs outside of York County. They are undefeated for a reason.

4. Central York boys' volleyball (6-1): The Panthers weren't at their best at the Koller Classic, but they still have some time to find their top form and they already look like the best team in the area.

5. Northeastern boys' volleyball (6-1): Still dealing with inexperience, the talented Bobcats have plenty of potential. They still have to improve if they have hopes for district or state titles, but will be right there with Central in the race for regular season first place and the YAIAA tournament.

6. Central York baseball (9-3): There hasn't been any area squad that has flat-out dominated in baseball, but Central has seemed to get better as the season continues. Their most recent triumph was a 13-1 victory over Susquehannock, for which the Panthers needed only five innings.

7. Central York girls' soccer (9-4): After a rocky start, the Panthers are on fire, easily taking down Dallastown and making a strong argument for being the top team in the league.

8. Susquehannock softball (8-2): They stay in the top 10, despite having two losses because 1) their first loss came without Megan Sheaf on the mound and 2) their second loss came against Central York, which could very well win the PIAA title in the state's highest classification.

9. Susquehannock boys' lacrosse (8-1): The Warriors were down by six goals at the half and never really made a game of it against Red Lion, but have otherwise looked strong this season. They can't afford to fall into a hole like that again, but they still have the potential to rack up plenty more victories before the end of the season.

10. Eastern York girls' soccer (6-1): A perfect record was spoiled by a 4-3 loss at Bermudian Springs on Thursday, but the Golden Knights still look like an impressive team that could make waves in the postseason.
