For the fourth straight season Spring Grove grad Ryan Poff made the all-Capital Athletic Conference team after closing his career as one of Spartan coach Paul Saikia's best players.

Poff, was chosen for the all-CAC first team following a season in which he hit .423 with 53 runs batted in and six home runs. Plus, he struck out just 10 times in 163 at bats this season.

As a junior he was also a first team selection and was a second team selection his sophomore year. In 2006, he was selected as the CAC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

York's all-time hits leader with 262, finished with a career batting average of .382 with 17 home runs. He also added 64 doubles, 10 triples and 171 runs scored.

Joining Poff on the CAC first team was Jason Christenberry, a Dallastown alum who posted a 7-3 mark and a 4.09 earned run average. He strikeout 53 batters in 77 innings this spring and holds a career ERA of 3.88.

Sophomore Kyle Cook and junior Mike Connolly were named to the second team all-CAC.

In other Spartan sports news, the school's softball team placed two players on the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region squad in sophomores Kelly Smith and Kristen Grey.

Smith led the team in several categories, including batting average (.381), 61 hits, 11 doubles and five triples. Her 61 hits set a team record for a single season.

She made just six errors in 45 games at third base this season, which is amazing considering how close to the batter the hot corner is in softball.

Gray batted .346 this season with 37 hits, seven doubles and a home run while driving in 21 runs.

The pair joined Heather Bormann and pitcher Brittany Therres on the all-CAC team.

Salisbury catcher Lauren Brenneman, a Central York grad, also made the all-region squad.
