What Rush and Roberto Alomar have in common

Yes, the Canadian power trio and the Baltimore Orioles/Toronto Blue Jays second baseman.

Roberto Alomar was snubbed for entry in his sport’s premier Hall of Fame. He was selected for induction in the Canadian Hall of Fame on Thursday.

Rush just might be the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s biggest omission. Yes, the prog rockers who brought you the epic opus “2112″ have been snubbed just like Roberto. But they’ve been in the Canadian version since 1994.

The Baseball Hall voters needs to forgive Alomar for his spitting incident. And come on Rock and Roll Hall, can’t we look past “Roll the Bones” since “Moving Pictures” rocks so much?

Which begs a bigger question: Which “Hall of Fame” has more credibility?

So, Mark McGwire came out and admitted to doing steroids … Ho hum.

Of course, he only did it to recover faster from injury … Yeah right, we’ve never heard that one before.

I think it is time to realize that Jose Canseco was right when he claimed more than half of the Major League players were doing some kind of performance enhancing drugs during the “Steroid Era.”

Charles Barkley on SNL: Two thumbs up

I’m one of the many who stayed up after the Cowboys-Eagles game to watch Charles Barkley on Saturday night Live.

I’ve got to give it to him, he was pretty funny.

Line of the night: “You can’t handle my privates!” Watch that skit below:

The bad golf clips were pretty priceless too.

My biggest complain on the night? Not enough Barkley. It seemed like there was a big gap in the middle of the show where there were skits without him in it. And I’m not going to lie, SNL without a great guest doesn’t really do it for me.

So who are the best athletes to grace the stage in New York? Peyton Manning was pretty good. Everyone remembers the classic Joe Montana skit. Wayne Gretzky (although it pains to say me being a huge hockey fan) was just terrible. Here’s some great Manning below:

Not exactly the Big Ten – Thank God

At the start of the season not too many of us would have guessed that Oregon and Oregon State would meet for the Pac 10 championship and Rose Bowl berth.

But they did, and what a show Thursday night’s game was. Right down to the wire with plenty of exciting offense, a ton of speed and some big hits.

As a Big Ten fan, I am embarraased how much more entertaining college football is everywhere else.

It’s a big day for Penn State football fans Saturday. Ohio State comes to town. Check out how some of the seniors view this matchup.

Remember Pat Devlin from last year’s game? Well, he’s happy playing for Delaware.

Daniel Carcillo led the Flyers to a win against Buffalo. Yes, Daniel Carcillo. The Caps played a South-least Division team, so they won.

Remember Sammy Sosa. The Sammy Sosa who had an epic home-run duel with Mark McGwire. The Sammy Sosa who had so many great years with the Cubs ~~and Orioles~~. Well, look at him now.
