Security blanket replacement (and the best gift ever)

I’m starting to shop for my boyfriend’s birthday. Yes, I know what he’s getting. No, I’m not going to post for him to see.

But, thinking of gifts, this is perhaps the most practical thing I ever received in my 20s (even more practical than a smartphone — no lie). Naturally, it came from my parents, who are wise to what 20-somethings might need.

This mini generator (similar to the one pictured) runs off of battery power. In the year that I’ve had it, and used it extensively, I still have yet to plug it into the wall to charge it.

I’ve used it to put air in my tires (many times), charge my cell phone and act as a big flashlight when my power went out.

For the worrier that I am, it gives me peace of mind every time I’m on a road trip. In addition to putting air in my tires and charging my phone (or camera or laptop … ), it can also jump start my car. It has attachments to put air in basketballs and bike tires, too.

It might not be cuddly, but it’s replaced my security blanket.

What are some of the best 20-something gifts you’ve been given? Or the worst? (Like that Hannah Montana sweater …)
