One trial H.S. football fans should follow
Around a month ago, we ran a story about the National Athletic Trainers Association advising high school football coaches to limit two-a-day practices in an effort to reduce the risk of heat injuries among high school athletes. Well, the hot-button … Continue reading

Preseason rankings rundown
Preseason rankings are, in general, pretty meaningless. They don’t hold much weight once the pads and helmets go on. That said, it can’t hurt to look at them, right? I found a pair of recently posted rankings of Pennsylvania high … Continue reading

Central’s other standout
I got a chance to check out Central York practice Wednesday (as my amateurish attempt at iPhone photography will attest). And by the looks of things, Penn State-bound Kyle Baublitz isn’t the only Panther worth keeping an eye on this … Continue reading

Two-a-nights?
Wednesday marked the start of in-services at West York High School. Which doesn’t seem like a big deal, except that it’s a bummer for teachers who see their summers come to an end a bit earlier than usual. But that … Continue reading

Study: Risk of severe injury highest early in game
Injuries are a part of football, a risk players take every time they slip on a helmet and pads. But according to a study published in Research in Sports Medicine, a high school football player’s risk of severe injury is … Continue reading

Media Day Madness
Where can you find about 20 YAIAA football coaches and a few dozen of the area’s best gridiron talents all in one room? Why, at YAIAA Football Media Day, of course, an annual gathering in which those coaches and players … Continue reading
