Dover's Black wins national wrestling title

For the second straight year, Dover native Brooks Black made a big splash at the USA Wrestling championships in Fargo, N.D. Black won his second straight Cadet (ages 15-16) 285-pound Greco-Roman title on Tuesday, defeating Florida's Doug Vallaro 1-0, 0-1, 1-0 in the final.

Black, 16, is somewhat of a lesser known commodity in these parts, in part because he doesn't actually wrestle scholastically in the area (Black attends Blair Academy, a private boarding school in New Jersey). The soon-to-be-sophomore's efforts helped the Pennsylvania team win the Greco-Roman team title in Fargo.

Another pair of local wrestlers also fared well in Fargo. Kennard-Dale rising freshman Chance Marstellar finished fourth at 145 pounds, and Biglerville's Laike Gardner took fifth at 135 pounds (those results courtesy of rodfrisco.com)
