Eastern York’s McClain-Vitacco’s 32-year-old PIAA track record finally falls

The oldest of the seven records to fall on Saturday at the PIAA championships was held by a York County legend.

Donna McClain-Vitacco’s record of 4:52.03 in the Class AA girls’ 1,600-meter run was broken by Homer-Center senior Angel Piccirillo, who won the event in 4:39.42. The mark had stood since McClain-Vitacco’s senior year at Eastern York in 1980.

McClain-Vitacco earned six PIAA track gold medals during her high school career. 

She was featured in our Greatest Athletes series and was named Eastern York’s No. 1 athlete.
