Where I'm from, we pick on skinny people.
Not in an evil way, but it's usually something like:
"Have you seen (insert relative's name) daughter?"
"Um hmm."
"That girl needs a sandwich! She is TOO thin."
"She's barely skin and bones! It's not healthy, really."
"It just doesn't look right."
Since I'm from a family of big people, I've always embraced my full-figure. While many cut carbs, did something involving a beach or tried to find their "zone," I let the "got to be thin" bandwagon pass by. I cringed at the thought of diet anything and puzzled over the obsession with weight loss.
That changed when I started getting winded walking the flight of stairs to my second-floor apartment and became too tired to chase my nieces and nephew around. I decided to make some changes when I went to the doctor, and my blood pressure, which had been good all my life, shot up to levels that make me a candidate for medication.
Now, I'm trying to change my life and be healthy. So far, changing my life really isn't much fun. I'm hoping healthy is better than the episode I'm in now.

You? Not have fun?
Oh, come on now. What terrifies those of us that know you best is that you will lose the weight, and then you will have even more energy. Then what am I supposed to do??!! I'm the friend that gets annoyed when she has to eat or just forgets to do it (including forgetting to feed houseguests) altogether. You will always be fun and beautiful - and soon, you will be healthier too.....
It does not have to be all that bad. Don't think of it as a weight loss thing, just a way to stay healthy.
One important thing is to cook for yourself. Stop allowing others to shove the wrong things in your mouth.
Many resturants and fast food places put more salt and sugar in your food then you would if you made the same dish for yourself.
Same goes for process food. Make your own vegetables, salads, meats and so forth.
You will see a significant drop in no time. Also remember to move your workouts to the morning time. Some how it seems to work better.
