The criminal justice system obviously doesn't know who Paris Hilton is.
What else could explain its complete disregard for her status as a rich, spoiled brat with no boundaries who lacks the common sense that God gave a turnip?
They've really got a lot of nerve, those criminal justice folks. I mean, who puts a pampered princess like that in a "normal" jail? She might have to rub elbows with the common folks - you know - the ones who actually have to serve their sentences in prison.
I know, I'm shocked and appalled by it, too.
However, it appears that America is not feeling Paris' pain.
People lost their minds when they heard Hollywood's favorite amateur porn star was released from prison and sent home with a "medical condition." Paris and her camp did not help her case by announcing that she had a basket of cupcakes delivered to her home, got a massage, a manicure and was otherwise totally pampered (as if her current bad behavior warrants ANY of these treatments).
Americans were pissed at Paris, but more mad at the criminal justice system, which many said is tilted in favor of rich, white people. They lit up message boards and blogs with their distain, demanding some type of justice.
In an MSNBC poll, 92 percent of the more than 530,000 respondents said Paris needs to serve her time in prison. It's not a scientific poll, but shows that many do not feel Paris should get away with lockdown at her 4,000-square-foot mansion. Prison is supposed to suck. It's not a resort, it's punishment. Say it with me, Paris. . . punishment.
It appears, however, that prayers were answered, and justice was served. On Friday, a red-faced Paris had to be dragged back to the very prison that released her last week. She pouted in court, calling for her mama and saying "It's not right!," before she was taken away.
As America rejoiced and its faith in the criminal justice system was temporarily restored, many, including my homey, Amanda, would've paid good money to see Paris being dragged back to prison crying and carrying on like a 5-year-old having a tantrum.
On some levels, we have to give her a break. This child really believes the rules poor people (i.e.. most Americans) have to follow do not apply to her.
How else could you explain her driving with a suspended license?
Her total shock at being sentenced to jail for violating her parole?
Her total disregard for the criminal justice system (She was late for her court appearance - like 30 minutes late, enough to piss off most judges)?
Her and her family's belief that the stunt the Los Angeles County sheriff pulled in granting her release would actually fly?
In a written statement over the weekend, Paris, 26, said, "Being in jail is by far the hardest thing I have ever done."
You don't say. . . Since we know Paris has never had a real job, paid a bill on her own or balanced a checkbook, we'll take her word on this one. She also took time to lash out at the celebrity tabloids that pay her bills, telling them to leave her alone and focus on something important like Iraq. Does she even know where Iraq is?
Paris claims she is learning from her stint in jail. However, her tantrum and actions betray her. For the time being, she is where she belongs, serving her time in prison.. Let's hope we don't have any more "blips" in the criminal process, and that our resident brat gets more from this experience than harrowing jail stories she can use to sell a memoir.
I know, Paris would say we are being haters. I say, "Hate on, fellow haters!":
