Life is hard without glasses

| | Comments (0)

It all started when I lost my glasses. Things went downhill - literally - from there.

Over the weekend, I was at my friend, Mike's, home in Providence, RI. I helped him paint rooms on the third floor as part of his remodeling project there.

Now, being the good glasses-wearer that I am, I thought, "I'm going to take off my glasses, and put them someplace safe, so I don't get paint on them."

The only problem - I couldn't remember where that safe place was.

When we finished painting for the night, I was tired. I wasn't thinking about my glasses and went to go downstairs.

That's when I was reminded why I need my glasses, and that I did not have them.

I started down the winding staircase - and almost made it all the way down - before I busted my behind - big time.

I skipped over two or three steps, landing hard on my left leg, compressing everything as all my weight went down on it.

But that wasn't enough.

On the way down, I banged my knee on the wall, and almost hit my head, but saved my noggin at the last minute by using my arm to catch myself, sort of.

(Yes, it's OK for you to laugh. Mike did when I told him about the tumble.)

So, I'm blind and my leg hurted (Yes, I meant to say, hurted). I didn't find my glasses, and had to fly back to PA without them.

Let's just say that driving home from BWI (the airport in Baltimore) was interesting, and probably a little dangerous.

The above tale kind of overshadows the fact that, thanks to my spinning classes, I wasn't winded walking up and down the steps while helping Mike work on the three-story house.

And, Mike would not let me live down the fact that I not only lost my glasses, but also fell because of it.

He really is a cruel man. I hate him.
