The Worst Gym Buddy, ever, part II
I would like to let everyone know that I still hold this title.
I keep telling my gym buddy, Jen, that I want to meet her at the gym.
I do want to go to the gym.
Really.
I just keep not making it there, for one reason or another.
It's not that I don't like Jen or working out, for that matter.
She's been an understanding and great gym buddy. Without her, I probably would've never taken a cycling class.
For that, I'm grateful. Thanks, Jen.
It doesn't show, however, because as I said before, I'm the worst gym buddy ever.
Case in point - this week, I told her that unless the gym blows up, I would meet her for cycling Friday.
I can't. I'm a big fibber.
Actually, I work part-time at Lane Bryant. It's the holidays, it's a retail store, so. . .
I was supposed to be on call Friday, but they need me to come in.
So, I can't go to the gym Friday to meet Jen.
Again. So far, I've missed more than a few gym appointments for work or other various reasons (you know, when I saved those kittens and put out a huge fire. Those were legitimate reasons for not making the gym.)
What's that? I am the worst gym buddy ever?
Yes, I know that.
Sorry, Jen.
I'm really going to try to do better in 2008. With the holidays, I'm almost sure the rest of the year is shot.

One way that I have found to assist people who do not go to the gym is to start by re-programing your thoughts.
Instead of say things like:
I want to go to the gym.
I should go to the gym.
I have to go to the gym.
I am the worst gym buddy!
Start saying to yourself thousands of times a day:
I love to go to the gym.
I love to work out.
Working out is fun.
I am going to the gym.
Pretty soon you will be their 3 times a week and loving it!
