Watch those portions

It seems that one of the reasons Americans are overweight has to do with the portions we eat.

I think they could be on to something.

Recently, I went to a local steakhouse, and ordered a 12-ounce steak, with two sides and a salad.

I was able to have the steak four times as a meal, in 4-ounce portions, and split the sides and salad for at least two of the meals.

Ok, you got me. I did get dessert, too.

That could be what is messing up my diet. . .

When I go out, I always cut my meal in half, or even in thirds, so that I don't overeat.

This MSN article talks about portion control, and why it's so difficult for everyone to eat less.

Do you have any suggestions on how to eat less when faced with big, big portions?

Hi Michele,

In my experience, the more someone eats out, the more weight they gain. Restaurant owners know that we like sugar and fat, and so what do you think they put in our food? As you know, here in York we like value for money, and any place that doesn't give up whoppin portions closes down.
So, my adice is to eat at home more!
