I'm ditching the cane

Enough is enough.

I'm tired of looking like an old woman.

I'm tired of struggling to get it out of my car.

I'm tired of almost (and sometimes) smacking myself in the face with it when I'm in a confined space.

That's it - I'm ditching this cane.

When I really was just starting to get mobile again, the guy I'm seeing suggested I get a cane to help me walk.

The suggestion came after I almost fell, again.

I'm sure it also had a lot to do with the fact that I kept leaning on him (not that he minded, but I really did need the cane).

Now, I'm walking better, and I've got to try to get around without it.

The cane and my boot had become this security blanket for me. I couldn't leave the house without them, and would almost panic if they weren't nearby (or on, in my boot's case).

Now, as my physical therapy helps me get stronger, I've got to go it without my two blankies.

So, I'm cane-free.

Thursday's post: Michele in hospital again from fall. . .

Good for you. It takes courage to work without a net, and more to just do it.
