Mystery solved. We know what the ball looks like, and who made it.
Here's the dress she wore for the slew of inauguration (just learned to spell that word this week) balls held to celebrate her husband's swearing in.

Michelle Obama wore a white Jason Wu one-shouldered gown. As usual, some loved it, and others hated it. The First Lady was one of the few who didn't opt for the standard black dress at the formal balls.
She stood out, but was it in a good way?
For the most part, though, Michelle Obama got rave reviews for the dress. She and Barack made a sharp couple, according to most of the fashion Gods.
What do you think?
Are we feeling this dress? I need to hear from you.
And because I just love a good photo slide show, here's one that looks at the best and worst inaugural fashion.

I thought she looked wonderful. The dress was appropriate for the day-super special.
I loved the color and the style. I heard there was all kinds of detail on the dress that wasn't picked up by cameras.
The only thing I didn't love: the small sweep train. Sort of made the dress look bridal.
