New program offers York County veterans discounts at some businesses

The York County Recorder of Deeds’ office will launch a new program on Monday aimed at thanking York County veterans for their military service, according to a news release.

Honorably discharged veterans in York County will be able to receive to receive a photo ID they can use to receive discounts on goods and services from participating business owners through the “Hometown Heroes” program.

Veterans interested in signing up must file their original discharge (DD-214) papers with the Recorder of Deeds’ office, located on the first floor of the York County Administrative Center, 28 E. Market St. in York. IDs will be issued weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to the release.

The office is also seeking businesses interested in participating. Organizations should call 771-9295. Businesses may opt out at any time, according to the release.
