Scott Perry’s full statement on Newtown, Conn., shootings

Below, the full statement from Scott Perry on the Newtown, Conn., shootings:

“As a parent, I’m trying to place myself in the shoes of the families and loved ones of this horror at Sandy Hook.  My heart is broken and I cannot comprehend their immeasurable loss and grief. I pray for the souls that are gone and for those left with unassuageable emptiness and loss.   While remaining focused on God given freedoms, I’m open to well-considered and meaningful solutions that may have prevented this and so many other similar tragedies. I will not, however, be party to this tragic circumstance being used to further a purely ideological and partisan agenda.”

Perry will be sworn into office in January. He’ll represent the 4th Congressional District.
