Final public meeting to give input on Susquehanna Heritage Park master plan will take place Jan. 22

The third and final public meeting to provide input for the master planning of the Susquehanna Heritage Park will take place Jan. 22 at Lower Windsor Township’s municipal building, 2425 Craley Road, according to a news release from the York County Department of Parks and Recreation.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m.

From the release:

The goal of the master site plan is to determine the best use for the county-owned parks including the Highpoint Scenic Vista & Recreation Area and Native Lands County Park.

The other properties being considered for the Susquehanna Heritage Park include:

• The Zimmerman Center for Heritage, owned by the Susquehanna Gateway

  Heritage Area

• Klines Run Park, owned by the Safe Harbor Water Power Corporation

• Wilton Meadows Nature Preserve, owned by the Lancaster County Conservancy

The third meeting will provide attendees an opportunity to review and provide feedback on the proposed master plans for the five sites.

In November, I wrote about Paul Nevin of Hellam Township wanting to preserve an old farmstead on Native Lands County Park in Lower Windsor Township.

One Response to Final public meeting to give input on Susquehanna Heritage Park master plan will take place Jan. 22

  1. Please consider a trail system from Long level to Wrightsville along the river. I will be happy to lend professional advice on devising and construction of the trail, Parking lots and a partial trail are currently in Wrightsville along the river. We should add this area to explain the history of the Bridge Burning and it’s relationship to Gettysburg. Possibly a Heritage Designation through the National Park Service.
