U.S. Rep. Scott Perry, R-York County, has invited a Shipley Energy executive to be his guest for Tuesday’s State of the Union address.

Here’s why:

“I’ve invited Robert Borden, Executive Vice President/Director of Shipley Energy, to join me at this year’s State of the Union address,” Perry said in a statement. “Shipley Energy is an active job creator in our community and widely regarded as a great corporate citizen. Mr. Borden has extensive knowledge of energy issues and I look forward to hearing his views on policies that affect hundreds of thousands of central Pennsylvanians every day. Mr. Borden is also an active member of our community through his work with the Rotary Club of York, the Red Cross and many other community organizations.

“The State of the Union address is an opportunity for President Obama to outline his solutions to the issues facing the United States. Over the past year, the House passed several bills that would lead America towards a more comprehensive energy policy to create jobs and reduce energy costs on American families. I look forward to hearing the President’s remarks and hope he’s willing to work with Congress this year to forge bipartisan solutions to these pressing issues.”
