So, what's the weather like?

It's funny, no matter how well you know a person and how much you potentially have to talk about, somehow the topic of weather always seems to come up.

Whenever Steve calls that's one of my first questions: What's the weather like? Are you warm enough?

I guess it's easier than asking, "So, you still happy you signed up?" or "How homesick are you?"

I haven't heard from Steve in a week or two. And, if he were to call today, we'd definitely talk weather - what with Snowmageddon in our midst.

Twenty years ago, I would've celebrated a snow day - spending my afternoons romping with my sister or pulling Steve around on our old wooden sled. And, I'm not gonna lie, probably trying to smoosh his face in it.

I checked out the forecast in Herat. No snow in the near future - it's 3 a.m. and 26 degrees where he is. Hopefully he's snuggled up underneath fleece and bunny blankets.
