A stink over stink bugs

They’rrreee backkk.
Stink bugs — officially Halyomorpha halys — are appearing in York County again this fall. According to a Penn State Department of Entomology report on the Internet, the bugs were first recorded in Pennsylvania about a year ago.
The bugs — which get their name from the odor they produce if you squash too many at one time — are “attracted to the outside of houses on warm fall days.” They are looking to get inside so they can over-winter in comfort.
What can you do to get rid of them? Apparently, not much. Try blocking any entrances they may be using to gain access to the inside of your home. One suggestion in the report is to try to suck them up in a vaccum cleaner if they invade the inside of your home. Or call a pest control expert. Other than that, with the approach of colder weather, you just wait them out and let nature take its course.

  1. One of them stayed alive during the whole winter on my balcony and now she’s active again.
