Parking problems

Things I can't master:

park.jpeg

I do a lot of things well. I'm a natural at freeze tag. I'm decent on the keyboard. I can make a mean cupcake.

All those things pale in comparison to the one thing I just can't seem to master -- parallel parking. It's like my Achilles heel, holding me back from being an amazing driver.

Growing up in suburbia, the dreaded double "p" didn't come into play that often, except when I went to get my license. (I failed the first time because I parked crooked between the two orange barrel thingys. It was quite traumatic for a 16 year old.)

Parallel parking continued to plague me during my Penn State days. (Trying to park in State College during a home football weekend is the quickest way to get me to drop the "f" bomb repeatedly.)

The problem followed me when I moved to the City of York. I didn't even improve much when I switched from a Ford Explorer to a Chevy Cavalier. Watching others swing into tight city spots with ease makes me green with envy.

I guess with these things, they say practice makes perfect. We'll see. Maybe I'll just resign to being good at baking and running and not so good at other things. Or, I just need to get me one of these.
