Food donations for York's Helping Hand for the Homeless will be collected on York's Light Up Night, Dec. 4.

The event, which features live entertainment, a free movie, caroling, the lighting of the holiday tree and other activities, starts at 5 p.m in Continental Square in York. Donations will be taken in a tent at the corner of South George and West Market streets.

5:00 pm - The Shipley Energy Green Team will be accepting food donations for York's Helping Hand for the Homeless at the donation tent on corner of South George and West Market Streets.
5:30 pm - Free hands-on children's activity with Girl Scouts In The Heart of Pennsylvania
5:45 pm - Greater York Center for Dance Education will present dances to holiday favorites and excerpts from The Nutcracker Ballet, which they present Dec. 12 & 13 at the Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center.
6:00 pm - William Penn Pep Band with carol sing-along
6:20 pm - Shipley Energy Green Team and Mayor John Brenner offer welcome
6:30 pm - Tree Lighting and arrival of Santa Claus, Procession to Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center at 50 North George Street immediately following the tree lighting.
6:35 pm - Mayor John Brenner reads Christmas story in the Strand lobby
6:45 pm - Kids talk to Santa in the Strand lobby with help from the Shipley Energy Green Team Elves. Cookies and beverages available.
7:00 pm - Mighty Wurlitzer Sing-Along inside the Capitol Theatre.
7:30 pm - Free showing of vintage TV specials "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "The Year Without a Santa Claus."
