Come learn about York's role in the Gettysburg Campaign during the next installment of Downtown Inc's historic walking tour series Saturday

In June 1863, more than 5,500 Confederate soldiers from Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia invaded York County and marched toward York. City officials surrendered the town and the following morning a Confederate brigade marched through York toward Wrightsville.

The tour, led by Civil War author Scott L. Mingus Sr., will highlight York's role in the Underground Railroad, the U.S. Army Hospital, the occupation of York and the aftermath of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Tours are limited to 40 people, and pre-registration is required. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.

To register, call 849-2331 or email info@downtownyorkpa.com. If you leave a message, include your name, phone number, and the number of people in your party. Payment will be collected when the tour begins.
