A yummy cookie

| | Comments (3)
Today I had a 1 p.m. appointment with someone at the York Coffee Company, and my stomach was growling.

On the counter, there was a glass case of Confectionately Yours cookies. I've heard about this new York cookie biz. I'd seen people become fans on Facebook. I'd seen the jar at Mezzogiorno, but it was always empty. So I'd never had one.

A few at the coffee shop had peanut butter cups on them. I cannot resist peanut butter cups. So I bought one ($1, I think?) and it was yummy.

I did a Google search when I got back and it looks like the business has a blog, though it hasn't been updated in a while. The Facebook page looks more up to date (and, it assures me, the Mezzogiorno jar has been filled).

That was fast.

Over the weekend, I told you that the York Coffee Co. had a sign up indicated they were closed and would reopen under new management.

Today, I looked again as I headed to City Hall and the "open" sign appeared to be on. So feel free to get your caffeine fix once again.

Books and coffee

So, I was pretty sad to hear that the coffee shop at Martin Library will be leaving.

I think my exact reaction was "but where will I get coffee??" That Sparky and Clark's was pretty darn convenient, what with it being directly across the street from my apartment and all. Granted, I didn't go all that often, but I never had any trouble when I did.

A quality cup o' joe

Since I had to stop by city hall to pay for my monthly parking permit before work today, I decided it would be a good time to finally check out York Coffee Co., which sits at the corner of Beaver and King streets.

The shop opened at the end of July, but I never had a chance to stop by, apparently because I always forget about it when I'm in the area of city hall.

I thought the place looked great. It was clean, and the service was fast and friendly.

And, I really liked the coffee. It was a French roast (I love the darker roasts). The price for a large, with tax, was $1.86. That is a reasonably priced cup of coffee in comparison to anywhere else.

Besides the French roast, there was a Sumatra available and a decaf, and I think a fourth.

Honestly, I didn't notice what the hours were. Though I did see that they take credit cards, according to the stickers on the door.

It's a fair bet I'll be stopping by here at least the one time a month I go to city hall.
