In late June, things happen in York County

A previous York Town Square post detailed several monumental historical York County events occurring in late June.

Congress' departure from York County in 1778 was one. The Confederate Army's invasion in 1863 was another.

Now, we've discovered two more... .

In 1834, a York-wide funeral procession was held for the Marquis de Lafayette, who had died weeks before in France. That was the largest such procession, sans the body of the deceased, since a similar observance upon George Washington's death in 1799.

And in 1972, the county was reeling in the aftermath of flooding caused by Tropical Storm Agnes. The flooding caused millions in damage and the loss of life.

Does anyone else have any other late-June York County moments?
