In clear view: Professional baseball returned to York when the Revolution of the independent Atlantic League opened at the not-yet-completed Sovereign Bank Stadium in June 2007.
Behind the scene: York reached back into its proudest moment to name its new professional baseball team, the first professional baseball team in York since 1969.
The return of baseball and the position of the new stadium between two major redevelopment projects provide a cornerstone to build York's future. That future includes recreational opportunities, historical tourism, arts and restaurant districts and the attraction of young people to the downtown. Many of these people would be exploring new attractions, akin to John Smith's explorations of 400 years ago.
