Here's a neat story from Red Lion, Pa. Mark Wagman, a Penn State Harrisburg student, recently restored this home, built in the Victorian era. Its porch overlooks Red Lion square. And its for sale. Read more at Renovated Victorian attracts attention and see related photograph below. Also of interest: Ma & Pa rabbit trains passing through Red Lion: 'I hope they thoroughly hosed out the cars.' and Red Lion, then and now: 'Welcome to a popular page on our web site' and Every day, York County struts its diverse architectural stuff.

A mixed bag of neat stuff ... .

Fellow Yorkblogger Joan Concilio always has neat stuff on her site, Only in York County.

She found a booklet on the Susquehanna Trail that I had referred to in a previous post on this blog, York Town Square..

Here's an excerpt from that booklet, a bit overblown, but it captures your attention:

"Taking its name from the Susquehanna Valley which it traverses for nearly a hundred miles, the Susquehanna Trail is an unbroken concrete ribbon four hundred and fifty miles long, connecting the most important two places in America - Washington, the capitol of the nation; Niagara, the wonder of the world."

- Joan Concilio also has an interesting series going on over there on the ABCs of York County, exploring various local icons. Readers vote on their favorites. She's on "C", with "B" being Bricker's French Fries and "A" standing for Agricultural Fair.

- And furthermore, Joan also has a series on Names in York. So, if you want to know who Samuel S. Lewis of park fame or Norman A. Trimmer, whose name is on the side of the West York School District elementary building, check out that series.

Forum of the day: Join in with about the 30 other commenters who have shared their thoughts on the proposed excursion train between New Freedom and Hanover Junction.

Springettsbury Township's Mark Wagman, 25, traveled to Red Lion to renovate this home, with some help from some friends. These photos and related story appeared in the York Daily Record/Sunday News on Jan. 16, 2010.
