Ah, the monuments of Gettysburg. How about 24 of them in beautifully made photographs, part of ydr.com’s Media Center. Here, Suzette and Blair Brumbaugh of Hellam Township submitted this photo taken during a recent visit to Gettysburg. For a site bringing together news and views of Gettysburg scenes, see ydr.com’s Gettysburg 150th. Also of interest: Gettysburg 150th spawning virtual offer and actual events and exhibits.

Neat stuff from all over … .

At one time, Gettysburg went through a Disneyland stage.

Now on this 150th anniversary, there’s a well-tuned ring of preservation in the air over in Adams County.

Check out this Hanover Evening Sun story on this intriguing topic: Gettysburg preservation.

Yorkblog posts from the past: Bloggers love it when a post from the past raises interest in the present.

Such was the case when Yorkblogger’s Joan Concilio -  from over at Only in York County (No. 1 blog in the state, among medium size newsrooms, btw) – received this note from Jim Croker:

“I want to thank you for posting the picture of James Alonzo Stahle. He is my 3rd Great Grandfather and it was a great pleasure coming across the article on the web. Thank you again!!”

Joan informed me of this moment:

“This was kinda fun – feedback I got today from an early 2011 post of mine.”

Honeywell memories: Gordon Freireich writes in the York Sunday News about all the businesses that have gone in and out of the 500 block of East Market Street – site of the building that Honeywell will soon close.

Casper Glattfelder kinsmen: This reunion group is looking for info about Glattfelders who served in the Civil War, the topic for this year’s reunion.

submitted Weaver piano for Jim's blogHistory mystery photo: This finely crafted piano and its kinsmen, found around the world, have York County ties. What York County company made this piano?( Answer: http://bit.ly/16SErqu.)
