YorkTownSquare stories and photos concentrate of people, places and life in York County, Pa.

We do, indeed, have occasional posts and crime and fires and floods. But we like to explore what creates a sense of place in York County, apart from the diet of crime that afflicts many communities.

It’s interesting and revealing that those public safety topics scored three out of the top five stories so far this year. We just like those types of stories.

Stories No. 1 and No. 3 related to the New Freedom case in which Zachary Witman killed his younger brother, a topic in the popular podcast ‘Serial.’

It’s gratifying to see stories about non-public safety issues up there – the little known story of bridge lanterns, Bury’s burger recipe and York-made furniture still in use around the world.
