Prep sports season start brings question: Who is the greatest athlete from York County?

The start of the prep football season brings to mind a former York, Pa., High athlete who is now in the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Chris Doleman is seen in his high school photo. He went on to football greatness at the University of Pittsburgh and then in pro ball with the Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons.

Bruce Arians part of a short list of big celebs, achievers with York County roots

Bruce Arians, a William Penn High School graduate, is seen here in 2007 after his promotion to offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has since received yet another promotion: to head coach of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. He is among a slew of achievers from York County, Pa., who played big on the national stage.
