Zimmerman Center on the Susquehanna: They came by land and river to see the improvements

‘By land and by boat, visitors stopped at the center Saturday to see the improvements.’ So read a subhead on a York, Pa., Daily Record story about a day in which visitors could see improvements to the already vastly improved John and Kathryn Center for Heritage. Mark Platts, president of Susquehanna Gateway Heritage Area, said the revamped Lower Windsor Township site links water to land.

How two Susquehanna region farmsteads could see different fates. A story of preservation in York County

The Historic Hellam Preserve, a private restoration effort, played host to a gathering recently. A York, Pa., Daily Record/Sunday New story – ‘Hellam farmhouse a treasure trove of history’ – says the anonymous owner has spent five years improving the property from an old homestead to preserve. ‘On Sunday, the renewal process culminated in a private opening for the owner’s family and friends, who wandered among the sprawling outbuildings, took in the history and bought prints of Rob Evans’ pieces,’ the story states.
