Like York City scenes, old York County postcards and Dempwolf architectural drawings? Check out these digital collections

This postcard is part of the York County, Pa., Heritage Trust’s extensive postcard collection – more than 1,300 of them – that is now online. They join these recently posted collections: Bibles, Dempwolf architectural drawings and York City Streets and Alleys images available via this search. These are not the first collections available on the Heritage Trust’s website. But they are certain to be popular topics for researchers and fans of county history. Yorkblogger June Lloyd’s, retired Heritage Trust archivist, assesses these recently posted online collections below.

Recall that old brownstone trolley car bridge near Green Valley Pool in Shiloh?

Pools are open everywhere around York County. Such as in this 1965 Cliff Satterthwaite pencil-on-paper drawing of the Boys Club Pool in York City. He noted this was ‘plein air,’ as are many of his paintings. He was seen around York in the 1960 and 1970s painting ‘in the open air.’

Re-printed cookbook filled with ‘tried and tested’ York County, Pa., recipes

This advertisement is among hundreds that appear in the ‘York Hospital “Benefit” Cookbook,’ circa 1916. The cookbook has been reprinted and available for sale at the York County Heritage Trust. The cookbook was subtitled “Home Formulary of ‘Tried and Tested’ York County Recipes with Hints and Helps to Good Housekeeping.” In the original cookbook, color swaths were glued onto the pages of this advertisement from the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Alabastine.
